Ministry of Commerce Introduces Hotline 1266 for Enhanced Public Service

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Commerce is set to unveil a new hotline, 1266, designed to streamline communication between the public and the ministry. This initiative, announced during a press conference on the afternoon of March 4, 2024, seeks to make the ministry's services more accessible to the public, allowing for clear and direct information dissemination.

Available from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, hotline 1266 invites the public to inquire about all services provided by the Ministry of Commerce. This initiative represents a significant step forward in enhancing the ease with which the public can engage with the ministry, seeking answers and assistance across a broad range of services.

Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Pen Sovicheat, emphasized the dual purpose of the hotline: to furnish the public with detailed information about the ministry's services and to gather valuable feedback for the advancement of Cambodia's business sector. Mr. Sovicheat passionately addressed the issue of misinformation and rumors, stating, "Then we no longer have Fake News false information about the Ministry of Commerce about rumors about things under the table outside the table! (Corruption). You can ask any questions, we answer, so that we can help our brothers and sisters get a real answer. The answer came from a professional officer and could be the answer from me."

To ensure prompt and informative responses, the Ministry of Commerce has dedicated a team of 60 officials to manage the hotline. These officials are prepared to address a wide range of inquiries, including general information about the ministry, business registration, trademark registration, export and import procedures, consumer protection, anti-fraud measures, and details on various commercial services such as guaranteed transactions and exhibition-related information.

This hotline initiative is a testament to the Ministry of Commerce's commitment to transparency, accountability, and public engagement, marking a significant leap towards fostering a more informed and trusting relationship between the government and its citizens.
